Making food great by adding home made condiments
Since I have started my weight loss journey in January of 2025, I have been looking for ways to enjoy delicious food that is still healthy as I would like to keep the weight off. I have started making my own chimichurri. I would not call it a sauce as I like to rough chop all of my ingredients and it takes literally 10 minutes. I now follow a Keto based diet and I am doing one meal a day until the end of July. You can drizzle it over basically everything, my favorite by far is adding it to a steak dinner, it is delicious. Here is how I like to make my chimichurri:
Fresh parley, finely chopped
Dried oregano
Garlic, about 6 cloves, roughly chopped (about 1 gram of carbs per clove)
Half a red onion (about 4,5 grams of carbs)
6 Red chilies
A teaspoon of smoked paprika
2 tablespoons of red wine vinegar, you can use white but I prefer the red
3 tablespoons of Extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons of sea salt
Mix it all together and leave in the fridge for the sea salt to integrate into the ingredients and taste.
I add about 2 tablespoons over a medium steak and that is what makes up my daily carb intake. Try it for yourself and see.
